Krunoslav Hulak

Krunoslav Hulak was born in Osijek on 25 May 1951. He earned a grandmaster title in 1976 after becoming the champion of Yugoslavia . In the cycle for the world championship he played twice in the Interzonal tournaments. He was a longtime Croatian and former Yugoslavia national team member, and has played at six Olympiads and six European championships.With Yugolsavian team he took silver medal at the European Championships in Haifa in 1989.In 2005. he won the Croatian national championship.He worked as a trainer in Zagreb chess federation and later he also was a team captain of Croatian national team.His other notable tournament performances have been: Lublin 1976 equal 2ndAmsterdam IBM tournament 1977 2ndOsijek 1980 equal 1stSombor 1980 equal 1st Budva 1981 2ndBanja Luka 1983 equal 1stZagreb 1985 2ndWijk aan Zee-B 1986 1stBanja Luka 1987 equal 1stIn the extremely strong Belgrade Open 1989. 1stSolin 2000 2ndHe shared a big passion for blitz. “Kruno” was very popular in chess circles and chess world suffered a great loss.
